animal farm. pigs. totalitarianism.

April 10, 2007

last year, i was definitely subjected to the pigs, and i don’t put that in ” ” ’s because that’s exactly what my friends were last year. at the beginning of the year, it was great. we all got along, and you could say we all seemed “equal”. then, after about 3 months, my so-called “best friend” started becoming BFF’S!! with the girl we HATED the year before, who somehow became our friend again, (beings friends with her, i didn’t mind). after this happened, if i wanted my friend to even speak to me, let alone hang out with me, i had to do what they did, listen to what they listened to, be JUST LIKE THEM. and i hated it, but i did it. i did it because i was desperate, and she was my best friend, and i felt like i was losing her. these two, and their other BFFE!! thought they were the best, and that they could control everything and everyone they were around, and they did for a while. i did some stupid things last year, all because i felt like i had to, like they were controlling me. then i FINALLY realised that i was being an idiot and i didn’t have to conform to what they wanted. i regained my ability to actually think for myself, and it felt good. obviously, i’m different this year. i don’t take any crap from anyone, and i do my own thing.

the other people i feel try to control our lives is the teachers (sorry, i know you’ve heard this about three hundred times). they expect us to follow their every instruction, and if we don’t, they give us one of those lovely demerits or call our mommy’s. a lot of the time, they will give us very little instruction on what to do, and expect us to do it right or else fail the course. they threaten us, saying that if we don’t do well on a certain project or paper, we WILL fail the class, we WILL get permanent work detail, and we WILL get kicked out of the school. this doesn’t seem like it would give us much confidence to move forward now, does it? and they seem that they want to change their mind very often, without letting the students know. they will argue for as long as it takes for us to give in, saying that they told us it changed, and their the teacher, they can do whatever they want, when in reality, every student agrees that this never happened. we’re expected to listen to them and trust that every single word that comes out of their mouths is the truth. they treat us like stupid kids, saying “oh, you don’t know what it’s like, this is exactly how life is going to be”, giving us no room for creativity and imagination. i don’t know about you, but i’m hoping that this isn’t exactlylike life, and that there’s at least one job out there that let’s me use my brain once in a while. they claim to know what it’s like to be kids, but most of them are 40 plus years old, and i’m pretty sure that life was a teeny bit different back then…. we have a lot of freedom at our school right now, and i know even back 3 years ago, it was even more relaxed. the teachers and administrators keep getting stricter and enforcing more policies against us, and i know i don’t want my school to end up like vero high, but i’m afraid it might just be getting to that point very soon. we aren’t dumb. yes, sometimes we do stupid things and make rash decisions, but we aren’t mindless gerbils forced to run around a wheel all day. we are living, breathing, thinking, human beings, even if teachers won’t accept that.

my solution to this growing epidemic is to just do your own thing, no one can dictate what you can or cannot do (except maybe your mommy and daddy). you have a mind of your own, and you are able to think for yourself, but we are being brainwashed by the man to give up our minds and imagination, and listen to the leaders, because of course, they know everything….you don’t have to follow the pigs to survive, being your own self can get you much further in life.

conforming is for squares.

I deffinitely agree with what you said about the teachers. I remember many times when teachers change there minds and “forget to tell us”. I also agree that our school is starting to resemble vero high, every day is a rutine. I hope that people can stop conforming, and learn to do their own thing, im sure glad you did.

wow kim thats alot of fire!! kool. i kind of agree with you on the school thing. i mean teachers hear are not as bad as the teahers at vero probally are. like ms.arnold for instance. shes awsome! !> idk any teachers at vero like that. like mikey tho i do think that charter is getting more like vero in the sense that we’re letting all this drama crap get to us. its rediculous. we allow the stupidest things get to us. im not saying that i havnt done it myself but the drama has never made me want to kill myself or cry. i’ve just stop caring about that kind of stuff. we’re not going to die just because our boyfriend broke up with us??? NEWAY…good job kim!!
